    hey gina,
    thanks for the add!
yeah i'm definately joining dominance war :-)
i wasn't sure what class i was going for, although things start to point more and more to the demon abomination. i'm giving myself another week to do some more sketches.
did you have time to do some more sketching? i'm curious to see how your dwarf will turn out.

No nothing yet! >.<  I'm at work right this second!

I work at a video game company and we're wrapping things up so my work hours are crazy. I won't be out of here til after 10pm tonight... most likely... I really want to try to get some time to work more on him tho.

I'm also entered in that "challenge" on here for the "Natives of the Lifeless Forest" contest. I need to finish that image also  >.>  I have til Tuesday to do that. Man, time flies by so fast. I need to hurry up!

Great job on your abomination sketches. They look great so far. If you need any references... I'd suggest the movie: Silent Hill  and the video- games: Dead Space and Condemned (xbox 360). Those things I currently watched and played and I gotta say... some of the monsters/creatures in that... freaked me out. LOL.

        hey there,

cool! what video game company do you work at?
i'd really want to work at one too, or an outsourcing studio like Massive Black, but since i live in the netherlands my options are pretty limited (or i'd have to move abroad ofcourse).
crunch time can be quite the rollercoaster ride yeah, that is something i miss in my current job. but on the other hand that gives me more time to enter challenges like this and work on my portfolio Smile

thanks for the comment on my sketches. i had been working with my wacom for years in a row now, that i nearly forgot how it was to do some analog sketching. so this challenge was a good excuse to some proper pencil sketches. i haven't seen Silent hill, but i've read about it, and seen some of the concept work. i've recently downloaded the Dead Space demo from Xbox live. Stil haven't played it yet though. but i reckon i'd really like it. i try to keep my xbox 360 time to a minimum so i have more time to do something productive Smile
        (like entering this challenge hahaha)

anyway, i'd better hurry up now. i need to go to work.
nice to "meet" you and good luck with the crunch time and the other challenge!
        Banana Cheers
        later!

I am not sure if I can say what company I work at but I don't see the harm in it... I work at Cryptic Studios... we are currently making "Champions-Online" right now. A superhero MMO... it's pretty awesome!

You live in the Netherlands? That's really neat! I have never been there but it;d be fun to visit someday... if I ever make any money to save for a trip. LOL. Yeah you're lucky to have some more free time to actually work on your art. I don't, if I work on art challenges and what not I end up forfeiting my sleep >.<  Since we are getting close to wrapping up our game I haven't been leaving work til arounf 9pm every night or later. By the time I get home I just have dinner and pass out. This coming weekend though I plan on working more on my contests pictures though. I also really need to finish my "Natives of The Lifeless Forest" image also.

Did you enter that contest? It's on this site... Who knows, I am at work right now! ^_^ I will look you up later to see if you did. I hope you have a nice day. Talk to you later. Big Grin

            hey there!
nope i didn't enter the Natives of the Lifeless Forest challenge, this Dominance war is the first online challenge i entered.
i had been watching cghub (and other fora like cgsociety and game artisans etc.) for a while allready, but never participated.
so i thought dominance war would be a good excuse to finally stop lurking and join in Smile just for fun, do some networking, learn and make some nice new work for my portfolio.

your job as a game tester sounds great!
i checked out cryptic's website and that new superhero mmo looks cool. it's going to be released for xbox 360 too, right?

the netherlands are okay to live in i guess.
the weather sucks big time though,  and if you want to work in the gaming industry the options are  pretty limited.
            ........bummer!
so, what's it like in california?

aight, i have to get some sleep now.
you have a great day! and don't work too hard ;-)

            later!

              Hey Ludwin!

Don't have much time but just wanted to say hi. I am finishing up my lunch break right now... I have been working too much.  >.< but that's what happens when you get close to shipping a video game!

California has great weather. Right now? It's about 70 degrees outside, beautiful bright blue skys with a slight breeze. All the trees and flowers are blooming here. I live very close to Santa Cruz, a beach town right on the ocean. The place is very very liberal and people are pretty free-spirited here and artistic. Plus the pizza is really good! LOL. You should come visit California someday. Have you ever been to California? :)

Can't remember if you have mentioned that before or not...
Anyway, I hope your week has been going well. I'll talk to you later. Big Grin

                hey gina!
oh oh oh and just when i told you not to work too much ;-)
                hehehe.
have you managed to break the game you are testing yet?

i'm fine. started working on a more elaborate version of my dominance war character. hope to start working on the final illustration next week. did you have any spare time to work on your entry, or are you too busy with "game breaking" now?
                Smile

i know california only from seeing it in the movies and on television.
funny how you've never been somewhere but still have seen a lot of it. on the other hand, that doesn't mean the image i have in my head resembles reallity.
i would really love to go and visit the national parcs in the US once. like yellowstone, bryce and josemity parc.

by the sound of you, santa cruz is very nice too! can't live withou a decent slice of pizza!
                Banana
i live close to the sea too, but it looks nothing like santa cruz of course. but i guess it's nice in it's own right.

okay, gotta go to work now.
                talk later!

Hahaha yes I break something in my game everyday! :)

As for the Dominance War... no I have no time. I am actually working on doing some freelance art for a table top RPG book. Hopefully they will like my sample work and hire me... I need the extra money right now :/

I want to post my new art on here so bad and while I didn't sign an agreement of secrecy with this art I have been doing... I don't want to risk upsetting the people who are working on this book if they saw that I was posting art based on their work already. But soon! I will have things posted, I hope...

Yes! The national parks are amazing here. I just went on a hike up north in Humboldt. Humboldt city is kind of a crap hole but out in the woods it's amazing for hiking. I went on a hike through "fern canyon" it was amazing.  Here's an image of what it looks like.

                  http://rlv.zcache.com/fern_canyon_california_poster-p228474386046532125t5ta_400.jpg

They filmed Jurassic Park there and a few dino movie for the Discovery Channel. It's amazing. Best time to go is in September when it's sort of rainy but not too bad because everything is so vibrantly green. I plan on going back as soon as our game ships and go camping up there with some friends.

I am going to go back to work in a sek but will check out your updated stuff for the dominance war. I am sure you are doing badass. :) Talk to you soon.

Not sure why you never heard anything back. I will forward my pal (hr dude) your info from this site... is that ok? We both think you're great but our art director is super busy right now so who knows what happened. Hahaha and yes, I was in the superhero suit... LOL... :P

At least I hope so, we've been really busy. :)  I personally think you'd be a badass artist for us! But that's just from a fangirl standpoint. Big Grin
